Keith Dambrot understands the duality that can come with living in Ohio.
A University of Akron alumnus, Dambrot has spent the majority of his life within the region. Now in his 12th season at Akron’s men’s basketball coach, Dambrot is preparing for tonight’s first-round NIT road game against Ohio State. It’s a chance to knock off a program that, although others within Ohio have enjoyed some recent success, primarily remains the top target for other Ohio teams.
Dambrot’s son, Robby, a sophomore midfielder/defender for the Zips, hammered that lesson home years ago.
“It is Ohio State,” the elder Dambrot told The Dispatch.
