Local Furniture Chain Doubles Down, Promising Free Furniture if Ohio State Repeats

Last year, local furniture chains Morris Home Furnishings and Ashley Furniture were scorched to the tune of $1.5 million after Ohio State won the College Football Playoff championship by seven points. Nearly 500 customers received free merchandise after the improbable marketing stunt paid off in their favor.

Not content with merely losing $1.5 million, the chain's vice president of marketing and advertising, Robert Klaben, told the Columbus Dispatch he'd like to be out even more this year, “We hope a championship season will result in us giving away more than $5 million in free furniture and mattresses this year.
