Heart Disease Caused Former Ohio State Offensive Lineman Ben Christman’s Death at 21 Years Old

Former Ohio State offensive lineman Ben Christman’s death earlier this year was due to heart disease, the Clark County Coroner’s Office determined.

The Clark County Coroner’s Office announced Thursday that it determined Christman’s death was caused by cardiomyopathy, a form of heart disease, as well as cardiac arrhythmia, an irregular heartbeat.

Christman, who was set to play his final season of college football at UNLV this season, died in Las Vegas on Feb. 11. Per a report by The Courier Journal in February, Christman reported chest pains during practice one day before his death, but UNLV’s cardiologist did not find evidence of heart issues after Christman underwent an EKG.
