Perceptions have changed for Ohio State as the No. 6 Buckeyes open the regular season on the road tonight against No. 2 South Carolina.
At this time a year ago, three major knee injuries and the dismissal of the team’s only senior for a rules violation had coach Kevin McGuff working with a roster of seven healthy players.
To the outsider, the Buckeyes might as well have been holding a sign that read: “Wait ’til next year.” McGuff started three freshmen and kept a tight grip on the steering wheel through a bumpy 4-4 beginning.
