Big Ten meetings: Update on freshman ineligibility issue expected from Jim Delany

A year ago, the highlight of the Big Ten’s spring meetings were final preparations for the official addition of Maryland and Rutgers as members.

With those schools now wrapping up their first seasons, the Big Ten has less pressing matters to tend to when it holds three days of meetings beginning Monday at league offices in Rosemont, Ill.

“It’s a pretty light agenda,” Ohio State athletic director Gene Smith said.

Broader matters threatening to reshape the college sports system still swirl, and Big Ten commissioner Jim Delany is expected to provide updates on various anti-trust lawsuits aimed at the NCAA — chief among them the appeal status of the Ed O’Bannon case.
