Armed with life balance, Urban Meyer’s fervor for coaching appears strong as ever

Five years ago, Urban Meyer returned to Ohio Stadium for the first time in decades.

Back on Sept. 3, 2011, however, Meyer was merely a former college football coach trying to succeed at his new job as an ESPN analyst. He came to Columbus for Ohio State’s season opener against Akron.

As with everything else he had undertaken in his life, Meyer was hellbent on succeeding in his new role. It seemed an ideal fit – an opportunity to stay involved with the game but not be swallowed by it.

Still, speculation swirled that day that Meyer could become OSU’s next coach.
