61 Ohio State Football Players Earn Academic All-Big Ten Honors, Including Most of Team’s Top Stars

More than half of Ohio State’s 2025 football players are Academic All-Big Ten honorees.

A program-record 61 Ohio State football players were named Academic All-Big Ten honorees on Wednesday, including many of the Buckeyes’ biggest stars.

Quarterback Julian Sayin, wide receivers Jeremiah Smith and Carnell Tate, defensive tackle Kayden McDonald, linebackers Sonny Styles and Arvell Reese and safety Caleb Downs – arguably the Buckeyes’ top seven players on the field – are among the players who received Academic All-Big Ten recognition, which they earned for having a grade-point average of 3.0 or better.

Other starters who made this year’s Academic All-Big Ten team include wide receiver Brandon Inniss, tight end Will Kacmarek, offensive linemen Austin Siereveld, Luke Montgomery and Carson Hinzman, defensive tackle Tywone Malone Jr.
