10 year-old Ohio State fan worried a heart operation in Ann Arbor would make him a Michigan fan

This 10 year old only had one thing on his mind going into surgery.

"He asked if the Michigan doctors were going to make his heart love University of Michigan instead of Ohio State."

According to the mother of Ivan Applin, that was the only question the ten year old boy had in response to learning about the procedure required to battle his atrial septal defect. Ivan was being treated at the Congenital Heart Center at the University of Michigan's C.S. Mott Hospital. The hospital is known across the country for their innovative approaches to dealing with heart defects.
