Ohio State vs. Michigan: Takeaways From The Buckeyes' 42-13 Win

The Ohio State Buckeyes rebounded from a disappointing loss last week with a domiant 42-13 victory over the Michigan Wolverines, moving the Buckeyes to 11-1 on the season while Michigan dropped to 9-3. Here's everything you need to know from the game:

Notes:

Michigan gave up more points to Ohio State (42) than they did during their first six games of the season COMBINED (38 - Utah, Oregon State, UNLV, BYU, Maryland, Northwestern).

Ohio State QB J.T. Barrett and RB Ezekiel Elliott combined for 353 rushing yards and five touchdowns against the Wolverines. Michigan had been giving up less than 100 yards per game on the ground.

Ohio State stonewalled Michigan's potent rushing attack, limiting them to just 57 yards as a team on 25 attempts. No one player ran for over 29 yards, and the Wolverines' longest run of the day went for eight yards.

Quotes:

"I think he should be in New York. I think he is one of the best players in America. I don't know if he should win. I don't know the other players, but I am fortunate to be around him. He's one of best players that I've ever been around." - Ohio State head coach Urban Meyer on RB Ezekiel Elliott, who ran for 214 yards and two touchdowns.

"We couldn't make tackles, especially on No. 15 [Elliott]. A guy like that takes more than one person to tackle him." - Michigan defensive tackle Chris Wormley.

"I'm very proud of the team the way they've worked and the way they've progressed. We've closed a lot of ground. More ground to make up, but knowing our team, we will keep working hard." - Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh.

Observations:

Ohio State is the domiant all-around team we thought they were, and that Michigan State game was a fluke. The Buckeyes dominated a top ten team on the road in every phase of the game, flexing their muscle in the trenches especially. Maybe the loss to Michigan State was the wakeup call Ohio State needed to start playing up to their potential, but it came too late.

Michigan still has a way to go to match up with the top teams in the country. The Wolverines pride themselves to being a physical team under Harbaugh, but there were soundly beat along the line of scrimmage all day long.
