Ohio State Fall Camp News: 3 Things We've Learned So Far

The Ohio State Buckeyes remain loaded with talent and stand as the prohibitive favorites to notch back-to-back College Football Playoff triumphs. However, there's still plenty of things to be addressed before we start planning another championship parade in Columbus. Here's what we've learned from them so far in fall camp:

QB battle still undecided

Most college football teams don't even have one elite quarterback to call their own. It'd be insane for any program to have even, but Urban Meyer has that blessing/curse to work with in the upcoming fall competition between JT Barrett and Cardale Jones. It helps a lot that Braxton Miller has removed himself from the competition to focus on H-back/punt returning, but it's still a coin flip whether Meyer will go with the natural leader (Barrett) or the athletic freak (Jones) under center.

Braxton Miller showing progress at wide receiver

When Miller announced he was switching from quarterback to wide receiver, many were excited about the potential of the move, but were curious how fast he would catch on. While he still has shown that he has a lot to learn, head coach Urban Meyer is happy with what he's seen from Miller.

"We introduced him [to wide receiver], he did very good, and I'm anxious, as he is, to get going and get a starting spot. As a receiver, you line up and you run for two hours. As a quarterback, you don't run [in practice]. You run for maybe four or five minutes at practice, and you're doing other things."

Torrance Gibson tearing it up at wide receiver

Gibson, a four-star QB prospect who has also make the switch from quarterback to wide receiver, has flashed potnetial that has the coaching staff excited.

"He came to me," Meyer said of Gibson's switch. "He realizes it's going to take at least a year to play quarterback here, especially with what's in front of him. He said, 'I want to play.' I said, 'Well, here's your options: Wildcat quarterback, we'll see what your skill set is at receiver, catching the ball a little bit.' He's a very good athlete."
