Ohio State President Gordon Gee spends $64k on bow ties

Ohio State President Gordon Gee, not normally someone that a sports website would write about, thrust himself into the national sports spotlight in 2011. When asked if he planned on firing then coach Jim Tressel due to the OSU tattoo scandal, Gee responded "I just hope he doesn't fire me!"

For the record, 5 months later, Tressel "resigned" from OSU at the strong insistence of Gee.

Today a report came out that the seemingly uptight Gee has spent $7.7M on expenses since 2007, including $64,000 on bow ties . Yes, bow ties.

Gee’s lavish spending has been kept out of the public eye because it can be tallied only by examining multiple reports, including the quarterly discretionary expense reports delivered to the trustees and not easily obtainable by others. The Dayton Daily News requested the records of Gee's spending in September 2011 and the University didn't respond until August.

The $64,000 included regular bow ties, bow tie cookies and O-H bow tie pins that Gee could distribute.

Gee did not make himself available for an interview with the Daily News or Chat Sports. Visit the report linked above for further details on the lavish lifestyle of President Gordon Gee.

Stay tuned for his expense reports on O-H boxer briefs.
