Ohio State Football News: Tony Alford Says He Loves Urban Meyer's Intensity

Tony Alford left Notre Dame to become the running backs coach for the Ohio State Buckeyes in February, and he's thrilled to have the intensity ratcheted up a few notches working under head coach Urban Meyer

“Don’t be misled. It’s very intense where I came from,” Alford said of his time in South Bend working for Charlie Weis, and then Brian Kelly, via Buckeyes Extra. “Just the level of it, the consistent level of it (from Meyer), is a little bit different.”

For Alford, having a coach who has his hands in everything his team does gives him confidence in the direction of the program.

“Urban is a coach who is involved in everything, sees everything,” Alford said. “He is involved in every aspect of it at all times. The message is clear, it’s very clear. It’s articulated every single day, a thousand times a day so there’s no mistake. And I love it.”
