There are many ways to work your way into becoming a head coach of an FBS football program. However, one way to increase your chances dramatically is to work under Ohio State Buckeyes football coach Urban Meyer.

As pointed out by ESPN's College Football GameDay and Brett McMurphy, there are five current FBS head coaches who have worked as an assistant under Urban Meyer; Utah's Kyle Whittingham, Mississippi State's Dan Mullen, Texas' Charlie Strong, Marshall's John "Doc" Holliday, and North Texas' Dan McCarney.

Mississippi State came into play as the #1 ranked team in the inaugural College Football Playoff rankings. Furthermore, Whittingham has Utah ranked 17th in those same standings and Marshall's John "Doc" Holliday has Marshall undefeated and ranked #23 in the Associated Press polls.

Urban Meyer's coaching tree has bore some very impressive results, further adding to the legacy of one of the best coaches of the modern era.
