Buckeyes Recruiting News: Ohio State still an option for 5-star DT Matt Elam

Matt Elam is widely considered the #2 DT in the 2014 recruiting class, and although Alabama and Kentucky are still the front-runners for the 6'6, 350 lb player, Ohio State is still a contender for Elam's signature.

Elam is a native of Elizabethtown, KY, and has official visits scheduled for Alabama (Dec. 20th), Kentucky (Dec. 13th), and Notre Dame (Oct. 19th). His three unofficial visits to Kentucky so far clearly label the Wildcats as the leaders in the race, but Elam is reportedly planning a visit to Columbus for Ohio State's game against Penn State on October 26th. The visit may not be official, but there's still a chance for the Buckeyes to sell Elam on their program.

The Buckeyes are still pushing hard to sign five-star DT Thomas Holley (the #4 DT according to Scout.com, and #3 for Rivals), but Elam is believed to be the player with more upside.
