On Tuesday, Ohio State Buckeyes head coach Urban Meyer sent quarterback JT Barrett's parents a note and two DVDs of their son's stellar performance so far in 2014.

“I think those ought to go in a shoebox somewhere,” Meyer said, via Bill Rabinowitz of the Columbus Dispatch.

Compared to the nine other Ohio State quarterbacks who have started in their first year, Barrett is putting together a historic campaign.

Per Rabinowitz, "Barrett has the highest completion percentage among the 10 first-year underclassmen at .650. With 21 touchdown passes, he has eight more than any of the others. His 1,689 passing yards also top the list, as does his yards-per-carry average of 4.7."

More important, argues Rabinowitz, are the wins. At 6-1, Barrett could lead the Buckeyes to their best record under a first-year underclassman in program history. Only Bobby Hoying's 1993 team which finished 10-1-1 stands in Barrett's way.

Judging solely on what Barrett has accomplished so far after Braxton Miller's season-ending injury, don't be surprised if Barrett creates a ton more material for Urban Meyer to make DVDs of before the season is through.
