Damari Parris hit the second of two free throws with 1.8 seconds remaining to snap a 66-66 tie and deliver a 67-66 win for Western Kentucky inside E.A. Diddle Arena on Wednesday night.
Phillips felt his team was victimized by a late foul call, on Jordan Dartis, but was just as frustrated at the Bobcats’ inability to close out another game on the road. Ohio (7-3) fell to 1-3 in road games this season, despite leading by 17 points in the first half and by nine points in the second half.
“I can’t begin to tell you how frustrating this is,” Phillips said in a postgame radio interview.
