Ohio’s MAC title hopes may have died in Akron

The Ohio Bobcats should be celebrating right now, with another Mid-American Conference Championship Game lined up. The ’Cats should be preparing to be the first Ohio football 10-game winner since 2011 and just the second since 1968.

Ohio just needed to beat Akron. The Zips, who had won five and lost another five games entering Tuesday evening, had not beaten Ohio since 2007. The Zips, who had suspended their regular starting quarterback, brought forth backup Kato Nelson.

After defeating Toledo the previous week, Ohio seemed to be flying high. Akron had just lost to Miami and had fallen to Toledo two weeks prior to that.
