As the clock expired and Zach Matics’ field goal went straight through the uprights, the entire Appalachian State sideline rushed the field in a frenzied, jubilant celebration around the kicker.
Mactis, after missing his previous two field-goal attempts in the first half, chipped in a 23-yard attempt to give Appalachian State a 31-29 victory over the Ohio Bobcats in the 2015 Camellia Bowl.
To exit the stadium and head to the locker room, the Bobcats slowly walked past and through the Mountaineers’ party in in the middle of the field and witnessed what was so close to being theirs.
