Ohio earns softball sweep at Akron

AKRON — The Ohio softball team received a much-needed three-game sweep over the weekend.

The Bobcats won all three games of a Mid-American Conference series at Akron.

The wins allowed Ohio to put a four-game losing streak in the rear-view mirror.

The Bobcats won the first game on Friday, 9-4, thanks to a seven-run top of the fifth. Ohio led 9-0 at that point.

Alex Day got Ohio going with an RBI single in the first, and a solo home run in the fourth for a 2-0 advantage.

Natalie Alvarez hit a two-run double in the fifth, followed by Caroline Spacek's two-run single.
