Ohio guard Jaaron Simmons was named YP.com's Mid-American Conference East Player of the Week, the league announced Monday.
Simmons is the first Ohio player to receive weekly honors in 2016.
Simmons leads the Bobcats (10-4, 1-1 MAC) in almost every offensive category this season, including points (15.3) and assists (7.4) to go along with a .485 shooting percentage.
In a 79-73 win against Ball State on Saturday, Simmons notched 21 points, 11 rebounds and six assists on 7-16 shooting from the field. It was Simmon's third double-double of the season and the fourth time he surpassed the 20-point mark in his first season with the Bobcats.
