The starting point guard was sick, and the top scoring option was having a sickly shooting night.
The solution? For Ohio, it turned out to be a booster shot from a freshman, and a healthy dose of Quiera Lampkins.
Lampkins dominated the second half, and finished with career-highs of 33 points and six steals to power the Bobcats in a 73-63 win over Western Michigan on Saturday afternoon in the Mid-American Conference opener inside the Convocation Center.
Lampkins, a slashing 5-9 junior guard, attacked the paint with the fervor of a hungry velociraptor. Her driving, swooping, careening forays to the rim resulted in a 12 of 22 shooting night and 25 second-half points.
