Heavily favored Bobcats snag tough win in season debut

The perfect summary of Ohio’s season opener may be the game’s first play from scrimmage.

Howard University quarterback Caylin Newton launched the ball down the field to Ohio’s 16 yard line. Jequez Ezzard was close to taking it to the house, but coughed up the ball for a fumble that Jalen Fox recovered for the Bobcats.

Ohio ended up winning 38-32 despite being favored by 31 points. The Bobcats can be satisfied with getting the win but not by how it was earned.

“Well, I’m pleased with the win. Wins don’t come easy,” Ohio Head Coach Frank Solich said after the game.
