There was little solace in the fact afterward, but the Ohio University softball team played the host Tennessee Volunteers better than any team in the NCAA Tournament Regional in Knoxville.
The end result, however, was a 5-1 loss to tournament No. 10 seed Tennessee inside Sherri Lee Parker Stadium on Sunday afternoon. The loss ended Ohio’s season at 40-17. The Vols (48-12) advanced to the Super Regional round of the NCAA Tournament next weekend at No. 7 Georgia.
“Obviously it’s not the way that you would want a ride like this to end,” said Ohio head coach Jodi Hermanek.
