The 2018 MAC Softball Tournament begins Wednesday at Firestone Stadium in Akron. On the line in the four-day event for the eight teams that made the field is a conference championship and an automatic berth in the 2018 NCAA Tournament.
Ohio (34-15, 20-3 MAC) begins the tournament as the No. 1 seed. The Bobcats clinched their first MAC regular-season title since 1995 on Friday, and have been the hottest team in the league since conference play began.
The ‘Cats have amassed a 23-3 overall mark since conference play began in late March. No team in the MAC won more than a single game against Ohio during regular-season play, and the Bobcats have notched win streaks of nine and 19 games during the red-hot stretch.
