Once again, Derek Carr is the unquestioned starter. He will be entered the first year of his big five-year extension which he signed last offseason that made him the NFL’s first ever $25 million man.
Connor Cook enters his third NFL offseason. The first two the former 4th round pick had ever opportunity to be named the primary backup behind Carr, but both times was beaten out by a veteran.
Last year that veteran was Manuel, who was signed to a 1-year deal. He would come in for Derek Carr when he went out with a back injury, nearly pull out a win over the Broncos, and then start the following week in a loss to the Ravens.
