Raiders WR Amari Cooper out of concussion protocol, still sidelined by ankle

Raiders receiver Amari Cooper took a step toward returning to the field Wednesday by clearing league concussion protocol, a team spokesman confirmed.

But Cooper was a non-participant in practice, still sidelined by an ankle injury he suffered on the same play as the concussion. His status for Sunday’s game against the Chiefs remains uncertain.

Cooper was injured on a hit by Broncos safety Darian Stewart in the first half of the Raiders’ 21-14 win on Nov. 26. The hit briefly left Cooper motionless and resulted in a fine for Stewart.

Both Cooper and Michael Crabtree missed the Raiders’ 24-17 win over the New York Giants last Sunday.
