Patriots release Antonio Brown after just 1 game

The New England Patriots have released former Pittsburgh Steelers and Oakland Raiders receiver Antonio Brown after just one game, the team announced Friday.

"The New England Patriots are releasing Antonio Brown," the team wrote in a statement. "We appreciate the hard work of many people over the past 11 days, but we feel that it is best to move in a different direction at this time."

ESPN's Adam Schefter first reported Friday afternoon Brown's time in New England had come to a close, and the receiver himself took to Twitter to thank the Patriots.
