‘Hard Knocks’ awards: Gruden steals show again, for better or worse

With one episode of HBO’s “Hard Knocks” remaining, the show documenting Raiders training camp is running out of steam. Even the eminently entertaining Jon Gruden’s act is growing repetitive.

As impressive as it may be to some, did we really need to see the Raiders coach counting down from 100 by threes in two different segments of Tuesday night’s show?

Knock on wood if you’re with me.

(Check that, you’re knuckles are probably bleeding if you’ve knocked as many times as Gruden has prompted his players to in the first four episodes.)

That being said, Gruden still delivered some of the best one-liners folks will be talking about as he again walked away with the biggest of our weekly awards from the docu series

Most memorable performance

It’s Gruden in a landslide, thanks partially to these two gems: During his angry halftime speech he esoterically referenced a pair of “Lord of the Flies” characters: “Listen, we’ve gotta pick it up on defense … This guy’s standing back here like it’s Ralph versus Eric” We’re guessing there would have been a whole lot of knockin’ going on if someone had piped up, “I’m confused.
