Gruden hoping for ‘memorable effort’ in Sunday’s Oakland finale

The history of the Raiders organization in Oakland dates back to 1960 when they played their first regular season game in September as part of the American Football league, which later merged with the National Football League in 1970.

Oakland was home for the Raiders until 1982 when the team moved to Los Angeles. The stay in LA didn’t last long, as the franchise re-located back to it’s roots in the Bay Area before the start of the 1995 season.

All three of the storied franchise championships took place in Oakland in 1976, 1980, and 1983.
