The Oakland Raiders grabbed a projected starting cornerback on Friday, as they signed former Indianapolis Colts corner Rashaan Melvin. Melvin will be expected to come in and start alongside Gareon Conley, the Raiders first round pick from a year ago who is coming off a shin injury.
Melvin may be the most important free agent signing thus far for the silver and black. With the team releasing David Amerson and Sean Smith along with Tj Carrie leaving for the Browns, Melvin must step right in.
The former undrafted free agent out of Northern Illinois will be entering his 6th season.
