2015 NFL Draft: Oakland Raiders Select WR Amari Cooper

With the fourth pick in the 2015 NFL Draft, the Oakland Raiders select Amari Cooper out of Alabama.

Position: Wide Receiver

Measurables: 6’1”, 211 lbs, 31 ½” arm length, 10” hands

Analysis:

The winner of the 2014 Biletnikoff Award for the nation’s most outstanding wide receiver and a finalist for the Heisman Trophy, Cooper was named the SEC Offensive Player of the Year and a first-team All-American after leading the nation in receptions (124) while finishing second in yards (1,727) and touchdown receptions (16). He’s come all the way back from troublesome foot and toe injuries during his sophomore season, and his top-tier performances at the NFL Combine in the 3-cone drill (6.71 sec) and 20-yard shuttle (3.98 sec) reinforce that notion

One of the most dominant offensive threats in a conference full of them in 2014, Cooper is a home-run candidate every time he’s targeted thanks to his ability to accelerate to top speed and maintain it either when in a route or breaking off to read the passer. He’s got a natural instinct to absorb big hits the right way, and his ability to stick and explode out of cuts and breaks creates separation in a split second. A true star both in the slot and on the outside, Cooper’s intelligence and competitive fire screams NFL superstar.
