‘White-hot’ Buster Posey helps Giants top A’s

Giants catcher Buster Posey kept churning out the hits Sunday, two more, including a bases-loaded double that sent his team on its way to a win at the Coliseum in the first game of the Bay Bridge Series.

The combination of Posey — the hottest hitter in the National League this spring among those with more than 12 at-bats — and the A’s less-than-sparkling starting pitching made the outcome almost a foregone conclusion. Posey’s double off Daniel Gossett in the third inning scored two runs and San Francisco topped the A’s 5-1.

Posey is 15-for-31 (.484), and he has 11 hits in his past 22 at-bats.
