What’s to be done about Trevor Plouffe at third base?

OAKLAND – Trevor Plouffe was wearing a big smile as he rounded the bases in the fourth inning Wednesday.

The third baseman was enjoying his seventh homer of the season more than usual for a round-tripper. It ended a career-worst 0-for-25 skid at the plate, and even an infield hit would have brought a wide grin.

The thing is, he wore the smile before the home run, too.

“When you are sitting on an 0-for-25, you’re obviously not where you want to be,” Plouffe said. “But there’s no point it siting down and wailing about it.
