OAKLAND — Barry Zito returned to Oakland on Saturday for a pre-game celebration held by the A’s to honor his 2002 AL Cy Young Award.
Zito reunited with former batterymate Ramon Hernandez, who was on the receiving end of Zito’s ceremonial first pitch. Zito discussed his love for the A’s black jerseys form the early 2000s, which the club donned against the Braves on Saturday as part of Turn Back the Clock Day, as well as what he remembers from his big league debut as Brentwood native prepared Paul Blackburn prepared to make his on that same day.
