For the first time since 2006, the Oakland A's have won a playoff series — and their 6-4 victory against the Chicago White Sox on Thursday afternoon is thanks in large part to the heroics of second baseman Tommy La Stella.
In the top of the fifth inning of Game 3 of the wild card series, with a man on first and the score tied 4-4, White Sox outfielder Adam Engel smacked a dangerous popup that was chased after by three A's players. It looked like the popup might drop for a single and put Chicago in prime position to take the lead.
