MINNEAPOLIS - The A’s had hoped that getting their most decorated starter and their leadoff man off the DL Tuesday would provide something of a boost during a bust of a road trip.
But Sonny Gray gave up three homers, including a mammoth shot by Miguel Sanó into the restaurant above the batter’s eye in center field, the A’s lineup did next to nothing even with the addition of Rajai Davis, and the Twins thumped Oakland 9-1, getting six home runs in all.
The A’s have dropped seven of their past eight games.
