ARLINGTON, Texas - Trevor Plouffe was a late scratch from Oakland’s lineup on Saturday night at Globe Ballpark.
Plouffe was out with an illness, the A’s announced.
Plouffe, signed as a free-agent this winter, was Oakland’s best hitter during the spring, batting .380, but he missed much of the final week with a quad strain and he has gotten off to a slow start, batting .158 in the first five games.
“I try to stick with my routine but when you do go through little stretches like this where I feel like my timing is a little off, I have a few drills I like to do,” said Plouffe, who took early batting practice Saturday.
