SEATTLE - Trevor Plouffe is one of the few A’s hitters swinging the bat well right now, but he wasn’t in the lineup Tuesday, with Bob Melvin wanting to get Ryon Healy a night in the field.
Plouffe, Melvin said, would be an in-game option, especially with Seattle featuring three left-handed hitters in their bullpen.
Entering Tuesday’s game, Plouffe was 10 for his past 26 and he was coming off three consecutive multi-hit games, which he reckons is because he’s finally getting to know the AL West after spending his entire career with the Twins.
