- A pair of Oakland righties will no longer be participating in the World Baseball Classic. First, Australian reliever Liam Hendriks has opted out of the event, according to Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle. Hendriks has stated that he just doesn’t feel ready yet, and he doesn’t want to jeopardize his future with the A’s or his career. The long flights to and from Japan were also a factor in his decision. He may return to Team Australia if they advance to Round 2.
