SEATTLE – Much attention has been made to Stephen Vogt’s lack of productivity offensively in the early going of 2017, although as he’s started to heat up, five for his last 10 with a homer entering Wednesday’s game with the Mariners, the chatter has cooled some.
Less has been talked about his defense, particularly his throwing, but it’s been a problem. He is tied for the league lead in errors by a catcher with four, and 20 of 22 runners have been successful in challenging his arm. The 20 steals is the most allowed by any American League catcher.
