At the start of spring training, legendary sportswriter Jayson Stark put the screws to a panel of MLB executive types, challenging them to name a half-dozen current Oakland A’s. None of his 29 respondents would participate, with one asking if Brad Pitt in “Moneyball” counted and another admitting that “I’m in their division, and I’m not sure if I could do it.”
They all forgot maybe the best-known Athletic of them all: the possum that has been hanging out in the Coliseum press boxes since at least last year. Attempts to catch and/or exterminate the critter have apparently failed, and so emboldened, the possum has been exerting its dominance lately.
