OAKLAND – He wasn’t speaking for all of his teammates, just for himself, but Rajai Davis uttered something of a universal truth in the Oakland clubhouse Wednesday when he said “I never dreamed we’d be where we are now.”

Where the A’s are now is 11 games under .500 and about to face the No. 2 and No. 1 teams in the American League, in that order. They have four games against the Yankees and then four more against the Astros, a team off to such a hot start that even losing four in a row doesn’t keep them from owning the best record.
