Taking a seat on the bench no easy task for this All-Star

ARLINGTON, Texas – There comes a time when even two-time All-Stars have to take a seat on the bench, and for A’s catcher Stephen Vogt, now is that time.

Vogt’s 2017 season has been one long struggle, a .200/.225/.318 slash line that just begins to tell the story of his frustration. He has five RBI in 27 games. After hitting a homer in his first at-bat of the season, he is still waiting for No. 2. And his average with runners in scoring position is .167.

So it was no surprise that Bruce Maxwell was in the lineup against Rangers’ right-hander Nick Martinez Saturday.
