Andrew Triggs had quite a task Sunday. With Khris Davis taking a rest, Rajai Davis out another day and Marcus Semien nowhere in sight, Triggs’ intention was to keep the A’s winning streak going.
As it turned out, his only chance to preserve the streak was to preserve his 0.00 ERA.
Neither happened.
Triggs gave up his first earned runs of the season - six, in fact - and the A’s took a 11-1 pounding from the Mariners, Oakland’s first loss since last Monday.
The A’s won five in a row by doing most everything right, from strong starting pitching to clutch relief pitching to timely hitting to solid defense.
