OAKLAND — When Stephen Piscotty makes his A’s regular-season debut on opening day, it’ll be a homecoming that’s more than two decades in the making.
When Piscotty was 5 years old, his father, Mike, took him for a quick road trip to Oakland one afternoon after a tee-ball game.
Strolling down Jack London Square, a restaurant worker spotted Stephen decked out in his A’s Little League uniform. He informed the two that Mark McGwire was sitting at a table inside and offered to let them go in and meet the A’s slugger.
Lifelong A’s fans from Pleasanton, the Piscottys wasted no time taking up the friendly worker on his offer.
