PEORIA, Ariz. – Sonny Gray’s second start got off to a bit of a rocky start Wednesday when Travis Jankowski opened up the first inning with a double.
From that point on, however, the Oakland A’s looked sharp in his first start of the spring, setting down the next six men he faced in order, striking out four of them.
Gray originally was supposed to start Monday, but that was pushed back by two days after Gray was told he wouldn’t be participating in the World Baseball Classic for Team USA when the event’s insurance company wouldn’t cover him.
