MESA, Ariz. – Sonny Gray vowed Wednesday morning he’s not going to repeat history.
As badly as he wants to be pitching in games for the A’s in early April, the club’s top starter said he’s not going to rush to get himself on the fast track.
He tried that twice last year, and wound up spending more time that he’d like on the disabled list, missing about a dozen starts in all. So as he comes back from missing 14 days due to a lat strain in his right arm, he won’t be throwing fastball with smoke behind them for a while yet.
