MINNEAPOLIS – Based on Tuesday’s 9-1 loss to the Twins, the returns of Sonny Gray and Rajai Davis to the Oakland roster will need some time to produce the turnaround for which the A’s are hoping.
Lots of time.
The new faces notwithstanding, Tuesday was just another bad night for Oakland. Minnesota batters went deep six times while the A’s offense made it all the way to second base just twice in the first eight innings before Yonder Alonso got Oakland on the scoreboard with a homer to lead off the ninth.
In his 2017 debut after missing a month thanks to a right shoulder strain, Gray pitched six innings and was hammered for three home runs, matching his career worst.
