MESA, Ariz. – Simon Castro used to talk a lot when he was a starting pitcher. He’s a reliever now, and if anything, he talks more.
The Dominican Republic has drawn the attention of A’s manager Bob Melvin with the way he barks out orders to his players when he comes in the game, including “it’s time to go!”
“I guess I’ve always done that some,” the 6-foot-5, 230-pound Castro said. “I have so much energy. For me it’s a way to release some of the energy before I pitch.”
The 28-year-old has been in pro baseball for a decade now, and he’s been building up energy since Day 1.
