The A's placed shortstop Marcus Semien on the 10-day disabled list Sunday with a right wrist contusion.
Semien felt pain in his wrist after Oakland's loss to the Astros on Friday night, and then he sat out of Saturday's game. Manager Bob Melvin said Saturday that it was a nagging injury Semien had been playing through, but worsened on Friday. This is the first time Semien has been on the DL in his career.
The 26-year-old had been off to somewhat of a slow start this season, hitting .171 (6-for-35) over his first 11 games, although his 10 walks were tied for second in the American League.
